After a rain out on Monday the last opening day at the current Yankee Stadium turned out to be opening night was a Yankee classic.
After all the intros and pre game ceremonies Chin Ming Wang took the ball and did not look that sharp but did out dull a very tough Roy Halladay to get Joe Giraridi his first Yankee win in the Bronx. It was a dramatic setting and the Bombers played a very heads up game.
Wang was not that sharp but stayed away from trouble. A Rod went 2 for 3 while Bobby Abreu had a few hits Giambi played well at first and made a great baseruning decision to give the Yanks the lead. Melky did have a cheap Yankee Stadium homer but did make the highlight reel with some catches in Center.
It all turned out all good as Joba looked like last year in the 8th. And Mariano had the Blue Jaysgo 1-2-3 in the ninth. Last year with the Yankees poor start he did not get his first save till the end of the month. It is all good for Yankee fans.
